The Knowledge Grid project aims at defining architectures and services for knowledge discovery on the Grid. The main goal is to enable the collaboration of scientists that must mine data stored in different research centers as well as executive managers that must use a knowledge management system operating on several data warehouses located in different company establishments.
Weka4WS is a framework that extends the widely-used Weka toolkit for supporting distributed data mining in Grid environments. The system is entirely based on the Web Services Resource Framework (WSRF) to ensure interoperability with standard Grid environments.
P2P-MapReduce is an adaptive MapReduce framework that exploits a peer-to-peer model to manage intermittent node participation, master failures and job recovery in a decentralized but effective way, so as to provide a more robust MapReduce middleware that can be effectively exploited in dynamic environments.
K-Link+ is Peer-to-Peer ontology-based system for sharing information within workspaces, implementing the virtual office model. The system provides users with a basic set of tools (File sharing, Calendar, Contact manager and Ontology editor), and allows developers to extend the working environment with new tools that can be designed by using the K-Link+ tools framework.
M2M Data Mining
M2M Data Mining is a research project aimed at exploiting Mobile-to-Mobile (M2M) technologies to support pervasive and ubiquitous data mining through mobile devices. The project builds around a M2M architecture providing services for distributed wireless data mining algorithms and applications.
Java WordNet Similarity Library and the Similarity Experiment
JWSL aims at providing delevopers with a Java library for accessing the WordNet lexical database. JWSL implements some of the most commons similarity and relatedness measures between words. The Similarity Experiment aims at collecting similarity judgements provided by humans. These judgements can be exploited in order to compute the correlation of the similarity metrics with human rates. The more a metric is correlated with human ratings the more it is accurate.
Poogle is a Peer-to-Peer Search Engine built on JXTA and Google Desktop Search (GDS). The system can be used by groups of people for finding and sharing files on network-connected computers in a simple and efficient way.
The CoreGRID Network of Excellence project, funded by the European Commission, aims at strengthening and advancing scientific and technological excellence in the area of Grid and Peer-to-Peer technologies through the collaboration among several European research institutions.
The XtreemOS project, funded by the European Commission, aims at proposing new services that should be added to current operating systems for building Grid infrastructures in a simple way. XtreemOS targets the Linux operating system extending it to Grid with native support for virtual organizations.
The Grid.it project, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, aims at defining, implementing and applying innovative solutions for network-computing platforms oriented towards scalable virtual organizations and based on the Grid computing paradigm.
This project, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, aims at developing theory, techniques and systems for extracting and delivering knowledge from huge distributed sources of geographic data referenced in space and time, based on new automated privacy-preserving methods.
The TOCAI.it project, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, aims at developing an integrated set of methodologies and software tools, based on the most advanced knowledge technologies, for the analysis, implementation and evaluation of new enterprise organization models in the perspective of internetworked enterprises.
This project, funded by Regione Calabria, aims at studying issues related to the management and sharing of clinical information among distributed health centers, and at investigating techniques for information extraction to support operative and decision processes in a sanitary system.
